Nicole Junkermann on achieving goals

The passion that drives her to start and manage business is combined with a method: Nicole’s investment model is based on a rigorous and disciplined analysis of the decision-making process, which never leaves instinct aside. When asked how she perfected this ability, Nicole replies that she owes a lot to the people she works with and has worked with, starting with her father Heinz. Nicole also looks with sincere gratitude to the pioneering female entrepreneurs who came before her, who fought and helped pave the way for female entrepreneurs around the world to pursue their dreams.
Nicole Junkermann specializes in knowing how to identify and seize real opportunities and in creating spaces in which traditional media connect to technology. We find an example of this vision in one of her recent projects: Nicole is currently co-president of Magnum Global Ventures, the company that manages the operations of the legendary photographic cooperative Magnum Photos. It is one of the most important cultural organizations of the last 70 years, thanks to its vast archive which includes the works of over 90 photographers, including those of one of its co-founders Henri Cartier-Bresson. The archive also includes collections such as “80 Years of Yves Saint Laurent”, “Photographing Balenciaga” and 1989 images of the Tiananmen Square protest in China.
“I always try to focus on innovation when planning my investments, I look for ideas with the potential to change industries and traditional business models. Fortunately I have been successful in many of my investments, but obviously not in all, if an investor tells you that he is successful in all his investments he is lying. One thing is certain, if you seek to revolutionize an industry or a traditional business model by betting on technology and innovation, you have a high probability of success, then the idea is not alone, it must also be executed. I have invested in business models and great ideas that have not succeeded because the execution has not been good, there are so many factors for a business to succeed that it is very difficult to find the formula for success, but if you have a good idea, you are constant , you work and innovate, you will have a better chance of succeeding than the rest”.
